Paradigm Lost
In April 2012, INET, the Institute of New Economic Thinking held its annual conference in Berlin. We were comissioned to add a performative installation and a series of interventions to the proceedings. Anja Ibsch, Joy Harder, Florian Feigl, Uwe Jonas and myself spent three extraordinary days among the suits.
I organised the project, and brought two interventions. One was based on a specially designed and printed set of about 120 cards for each day, with a keyword from one of the lectures on one side, and a term generated in a free floating association session on the other. I used the cards to make contact with the conference attendees, inviting various games with them, and finally even telling fortunes. The other one was Birch Man, an exo-skeleton made of Birch-branches, that I wore during the conference, moving very slowly.
